$145 | Circa 1930s |

Handcrafted copper tray with a repoussé, low relief, hearts design. Almost certainly handmade by Charles Eustace, who had been a wages clerk at J & F Pool, an engineering company in Cornwall that produced arts and crafts decorative copperware in the early 20th century. Eustace later reinterpreted the company’s designs and handcrafted trays like this one in his shed to sell to tourists, which have since become collector’s items.
This tray has been polished to remove unsightly dark stains on the top surface. It’s bright sheen will gradually darken again; faster, if exposed to sulphur. (Rotorua has a natural advantage there…) The underside retains an aged patina.
In very good condition with some age-related dark spots.
