$135 | Circa 1970s |

Large flask by Peter Stichbury with a greenish-gray salt glaze dripping over a dark brown glaze. The base is unglazed terracotta. The stopper is complete with cork. Impressed potter’s mark and labels on the base.
Stichbury (1924-2015), one of Auckland’s most beloved potters, believed that pottery was a form of domestic art — created to be used, not merely admired. This piece is certainly beautiful with voluptuous dimensions and olive green flecks that come alive in sunlight. As for functionality, it can hold — and keep cool — a full bottle of wine on a summer’s day.
In perfect condition.
