Mid-century modern take on the neoclassical urn by Henning Alfred Rathjen (1903-1968). Signed on the base.
Rathjen, an Australian potter, ran a studio in Melbourne from 1948 to 1968. This urn was produced using a slipcast method and has a bolt in the base. It is a satisfying piece to hold, with a smooth satin finish and a lovely weight to it.
In very good condition with minor age-related marks; no chips or cracks.
